HOW TO CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS

JESUS CHRIST at a point in time invaded time to intercede for us
in eternity. The fact of this advent is carefully recorded
historically. The time of this event is not noted specifically.
Mankind has been so influenced by His coming that there is a
collective will to celebrate His natal night. Through the years
the commemoration of this spiritually significant event has
picked up excess baggage which has detracted from its meaning.
In many quarters greed has replaced a spirit of generous giving.
A character called Santa named for a follower of the Christ has
grown into a fantastical image that is bigger than life. The
creche has been commercialized and His birth minimized. All of
this has left many Christians questioning how should we
celebrate Christmas?
To me the celebration is of His coming. The date matters not.
The event is of optimum importance because it inaugurated God's
great love-venture on the earth He created. The Creator's visit
to His creation is cause for celebration.
As regions within kingdoms have long celebrated the visit of
their territory by their king, so earth is wise to celebrate the
coming of the King of Kings.
"Joy to the world, the Lord has come. Let earth receive her
king."
In a day when confused persons are praying to the creation and
virtually deifying creation we do well to acknowledge Christ
as the Creator.
