My nephew recently graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. As with most degrees, there was a lot of work involved, especially work outside of class. He would spend 30-40 hours a week in the Library or working on projects outside of class time. Some of the assignments that came as mixed blessings were the group assignments and projects. Those projects could extremely well or be absolutely exasperating. What determined whether the project was fun, exciting or exasperating was not usually dictated by the nature of the assignment but the quality of the people you were paired with.

At that point, your success or failure did not fall on your shoulders alone. It was dependent on others and inevitably there are always one or two in the group who do not or cannot pull their own weight. They don't pursue things with excellence. In moments like that you learn the full truth of the old cliché, ''A chain is only as strong as its weakest link.''

When one part/person fails the entire project suffers. When one part fails, it can bring everything to a grinding halt. That is what happened to some of the churches in S. Galatia. Because of the false teaching that had taken hold, ministry had come to a standstill. The Gospel ministry had stalled.

Paul wanted all the parts that make up ministry to keep moving forward and not come to a grinding halt. For that to happen, everyone must shoulder their part of the load and keep pressing forward.
