ear, and melody in the heart.
JESUS CHRIST's birth set in motion the festive celebration that
is the heartbeat of this day.
Shopping is over. Travel has enabled families to be more united
than on any single day of the year. Phone calls are made and
love expressed. It is a grand day of gift-giving. There is
reason to celebrate. Let's not let the real reason be lost amid
all the secondary joy of the day. There is a sadness that
grows into irony when we think of what this day really means and
what it has become. The Christ of Christmas must not be allowed
to become only a distant echo. The real reason we should
celebrate Christmas is because something has happened to us ...

To help our recall let's reflect on the events immediately
preceding Christ's birth to better understand Who it was born
that day and why.
Angels, Heavenly messengers, were used of God the Father to
herald the birth of His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. It must
have been an exciting moment for the Heavenly Host when the
appointed angel returned from making a special announcement to
Zacharias that he was to have a son named John A-N-D that
thebirth of Messiah, Jesus Christ, would follow immediately.
What a flurry this must have caused in the angel ban.
Then God the Father summonsed the angel Gabriel and gave him an
