The Anointing (1 of 7)
Series: The Passion of Christ

Mark 14:1-9
There is no doubt Jesus loves people. Many of us learned that fact when we were very young. The first song we were taught was 'Jesus Love Me this I know for the Bible tells me so.' And it's true. The Bible tells us that when Jesus walked on this planet, He demonstrated love in every conceivable way. He cradled children. He healed diseases. He taught truth. He touched the untouchables. He endured cruelty and rejection. He died willingly as a sacrifice for sin. He endured the wrath and penalty of God for sinners. From every possible perspective, Jesus demonstrated His love for people through His actions. The final section of the Gospel of Mark that we begin today, chapters 14-16, describe what we call 'The Passion of Christ'. Jesus' passion for people, His love for humanity is on vivid display in all of His actions all the way to the end.
But here's a question for you: What does it look like when a person deeply and whole-heartedly loves Jesus? We know what His love looks like for us. But what should ours look like for Him?
Real love does more than talk, right? Real love is more than a feeling. Real love always reveals itself in action. So what does it look when a person deeply and whole-heartedly loves Jesus? What do they do? How is it demonstrated? What is the evidence?

Verses 1-2 show the hate and contempt the religious leaders have for Jesus. They want to do everything they can to silence Him for good by finding a way to murder Him without hurting their own reputations.
Verses 10-11 show the depravity and deceit of Judas Iscariot. This guy is a wolf in sheep clothing and has been hiding in p ...
