Let me ask you some questions:

How many of you have attended Waypoint more than once? Great.

How many of you are sitting in the same seat or same general area that you sat last time you were here?

How many of you are sitting in the same seat or general area you sat a month ago? Year ago? 5yrs ago?

For being such bright, original, creative, resourceful, innovative people, we have a strong tendency to be creatures of habit, don't we? Do you know one of the reasons why almost every single one of us wakes up at the same time does the same thing in the same way in the same place for the same amount of time with the anticipation of getting the same result? Because we love the path of least resistance. Or at least the path of lesser resistance.

Every time you do something it gets a little bit easier. It becomes a little more familiar and a little more comfortable. So, each time you have to try less. You have to think less. You have to focus less.

So, you feel less stress. You feel less pressure. You feel less hassle. You feel less resistance. Less resistance then requires less effort. Less effort means an easier life. And in our minds, an easier life means a better life.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that most of the time, but here's something you need to know. Constantly looking for and taking the path of least resistance in your daily life as a follower of Jesus will leave you cold, empty, unhappy, and immature.

- You might feel more comfortable, but you won't feel more useful.

- You might feel less pain, but you'll also feel less joy.

- You might feel less awkward, but you'll also experience less growth.

In your daily walk with Jesus, you'll rarely find that He leads you down the resistance free road.
