AN INVENTORY FOR SPIRITUAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR SERVICE
PART II
ROMANS 12: 3 - 8

JESUS CHRIST established on earth one divinely appointed
institution -- His church. The Scripture flatters it by
referring to those of us who are saved by saying "we are members
of the body of His body... (Eph. 5:30).
No single part of the human body exists simply to serve itself.
Each part is intended to function in such a way as to serve and
benefit the entire body.
Christ who's earthly life was ended on the cross is now to be
extended through the church. He is the head of the church. No
member of the body is to relate to any other member of the body
in such a way as to disobey and dishonor the head.
Romans 12: 10 tells us how to relate to one another: "Be kindly
affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving
preference to one another..."
To choose not to honor another is to choose to dishonor the
Head.
Note these things about body parts.
*They are intended to function.
*They are intended to function together.
* They are intended to function together to achieve a
purpose.
This results in a body where there is - - -
If a part does not fulfill these functions, it isn't serving its
intended role. In Christ's spiritual body, as with the
physical, the Great Physician amputates non-functioning parts.
