READING THE MIND OF GOD
LUKE 9: 28 - 36
(PAGE 1516 COME ALIVE BIBLE)
Jesus Christ said, "If any man wills to know the will of God he
shall know it" (John 7:17). That means you can know the mind of
God, His will for you.
The God/man, Jesus Christ, paused to reassess the will of the
Father on a mountain known as the Mount of Transfiguration.
Three disciples watched as four elements came into play to
confirm the will of the Father for the Son.
Moses - the Law Giver was there.
Elias - the Prophet was there
There was a cloud - always representative of the Spirit of
God.
The voice of God - indicative of the Word of God.
WHY the law, the Ten Commandments? To protect ME.
They mean you shall not steal from me, etc.
WHY the prophecies? To forewarn me of consequences.
WHY the Holy Spirit? To teach me what I never learned.
WHY the Word of God? To inform me of what I should know.
With these same principles as our guide we too can find and know
God's will. Why does He often delay revealing it?
1. He has to condition us to be receptive so we will act.
2. He has to get conditions ready for us to act.
Three basics are essential in knowing the mind of God.
STATE YOUR COMMITMENT.
START WITH THE KNOWN.
SUSTAIN YOUR SEARCH.
Now consider each of these.
I. STATE YOUR COMMITMENT
Often God doesn't bother to reveal His will because He, from His
perspective, knows you won't do it. Therefore, there is no need
to reveal it. A pre-commitment is essential.
Consider two examples.
