Derric Johnson is a man who has had a great impact on me. He is many things, the first of which is a devoted, growing, and inspiring follower of Jesus Christs. He is also a world-class musician. When I met him when he had put the Singing Group ''Regeneration'' which were world class with their music. His list of accomplishments both as a musician as well as a writer exceed what most people know. One of my earliest impressions from Derric was when he was a Minister of Music on the West Coast and had built a huge music ministry there. He was at a Music Conference teaching us about the 'music events' (I.E. Christmas, Easter, 4th of July, etc) and trying to stretch our minds to be creative. He told us his secret. Every time a big event was finished (they ran their Christmas and Easter programs several nights), his pastor and his friend would say something like, ''That was great, WHAT'S NEXT?'' Now that are a few in this room who realize that after you had finished a huge multi-night Musical program, the last thing you want to hear about or think about (at least for a day or two) is ''What's Next?''

But the point was this: God's work, God's plan, and God's Kingdom is always moving forward. The Holy Spirit inspired Paul to say, ''Forgetting what's behind, I 'PRESS ON' toward the mark for the high call of God in Christ Jesus.'' To read the scripture with any kind of discernment is to recognize that Paul didn't forget the good things of Christ because he would give his testimony at the drop of a hat. Jesus was his reason for living. What he would forget were those times of failures and failing. He would forget the struggles so he could move forward in the work of the Kingdom. He showed us that pressing on and seeking what's next is God's call for us.
