like father like son is an age old adage because it's generally true!

I was noticing a little boy in our congregation this past week and I thought- he looks so much like his Dad- a spitting image so to speak.

And as kids get older they not only look like mom and and Dad but they start to act like them.

I whistle just like my dad. And his whistling drove my mom nuts- and my whistling drives my wife nuts!

I'm sure you can relate. There are probably habits and mannerisms that your parents have that you thought I'll never do that- and now you can't stop doing them!

Your children repeat the things you say- sometimes the good things- but sometimes the things you wish you didn't say in front of them!

As they get older they often develop some of the same abilities as you have-
sons and daughters eventually take over their parents' businesses. I even know a fourth generation pastor!

Like father, like son.

Last week we studied Genesis Chapter 1- the story of creation- God speaks the world into existence- from the stars and galaxies to (i love how the King James puts it) to the creeping things that creepeth upon the earth-

You might think the world would be better without maggots and worms but they are essential to the ecosystem that God created. And he called everything good- complete, perfect.

But the greatest part of God's creation- the crowing piece and center of the created universe- is man.

And God calls the creation of man not just good but ''very good.''

And so we studied what it means that man is made in the image of God and TJ hashed out the implications of man in God's image.

As a definition, Wayne Grudem says, ''The fact that man is in the image of God means that man is like God and represents God''

That begs the question in what way is man like God?
