Genesis 47-50
We're going to finish Genesis today.
It's 4 chapters but I am convinced we are going to finish. We're going to take a birds eye view of what happens and then we are going to focus on two passages- the most important verses of Joseph narrative-
We'll begin with our statement
Statement: No matter what happens in life I will trust in God's unexpected providence.
PRAY
Life never really goes in a straight line. It's a windy road. It takes detours. Sometimes you start down one road and end up completely changing direction. Sometimes you encounter roadblocks that you least expect.
Think for a moment when you were 8 years old, what did you want to be when grew up?
Some of us had more realistic ideas than others. I want want a be a fireman when I grow up, I want to be a doctor, want to be the president of the united states, play for the yankees, I want to be a sword fighter
When you get to Junior high you begin to have romantic aspirations.
Do you remember that person you met at summer camp?
Of course you were too terrified to talk with her but her eyes met yours a few times- and you were convinced that that's the girl you're going to marry someday.
When you got into high school you had a little bit of a reality check yet you began to maintain this list of qualities that your future spouse might have. Blond hair, blue eyes, not taller than me, loves God of course, and you developed this picture of who your spouse will someday be.
And so life went on, you grew up, made plans, started a career, began a family.
And for most of us- looking back you realized life didn't actually turn out the way you planned it to.
You never became an astronaut, that girl from summer camp you never saw again, and your Spouse doesn't necessary meet the unrealistic qualifications from your list.
