Colossians 3:12-17
12 Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. 15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
PRAY
We are in the middle off a short series called WE EXIST that's based on our mission statement which is in your bulletin.
We exist to glorify God through obedience to His Word, devotion to His body, and engagement in His mission.
So our Core values then are:
1.God
2. The Word
3. The Church
4. Mission
So this morning we are speaking of his body, the Church.
I was reading about a new kind of church- that is very different from what we're used to. It still meets in a building, they sing songs, there is a sermon
but the difference is that it's not a group of Christians who meet- it's a church for atheists.
That's right there is an entire movement of growing atheist churches worldwide- called Sunday assembly
- where people who grew up in faith- that they have since rejected- are now meeting together on Sunday mornings!
They replace hymns and worship music with rock anthems by Queen and Stevie Wonder
Sermons are not about how we live in light of eternity but how because there is no eternal life-we need to value every moment.
The speakers are not called pastors ...
