Good morning church! On behalf of my wife, Rachel and I, as well as the elders of this church, we just want to wish you a merry Christmas! Today is a really special day and I am just so thankful that we are all here to worship together and spend time as a family in Christ. And for those of you who are not from around here and are visiting relatives I'm just so glad you're here this morning. Welcome to WBC! Now turn to John 1.

As a reminder we're taking a brief break from Romans- and we're focusing on a 3 part Christmas series called ''God with us''.

Last week we learned about the coming of Jesus in the OT from Isaiah 40 and this morning we're going to focus on the incarnation of Jesus. Our text is John 1:14-18

What;s interesting about John is he doesn't mention a manger or a shepherds. He doesn't talk about the virgin mary and the angelic announcement. He doesn't mention how there's no room in the inn. He's not concerned with a chronological accounting of the history- he's concerned with the theology of Christmas! What is true theologically about the person of Jesus and his birth?

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
