HAVE YOU EVER STAYED UP ALL NIGHT
AGONIZING OVER A DECISION?
MATTHEW 26: 36 - 29
(PAGE 1455 COME ALIVE BIBLE)
JESUS CHRIST opened His public ministry at the Jordan River. As
He approached John the Baptist, that is, the one who baptized,
he looked up and saw Him. Prophetically John said, "Behold!
the Lamb of God Who takes away the sin of the world" (John
1:29).

This time the scene is a lovely olive grove. It is the eve

The arena is an olive grove across the Kidron Valley from
Jerusalem at the base of the Mount of Olives. The name,
Gethsemane, meant "wine press." Today a visit to this place is
a meaningful spiritual pilgrimage. Trees whose stock date back
to the time of Christ still grow there. From this scenic
setting the ancient city of Jerusalem can be seen. A prominent
feature of the city wall from this vantage point is the Pinnacle
of the Temple. Remember, it was there Jesus encountered Satan
immediately after His baptism in one of the three major
temptations. There Jesus had won a spiritual victory over His
adversary, Lucifer. Now once again the two eternal
adversariesare to meet in Gethsemane.
