New Rags for Old

2 Corinthians 5:21
I have been to several of our college campuses, including the University of Georgia and Georgia Tech, to share the Gospel in what is called ''The Great Exchange.'' Most colleges and universities have what is called free speech zones and you can talk about whatever you want to in these free speech zones. You can talk about socialism, Republican politics, Democratic politics, humanism, the New Age philosophy, the philosophy of Karl Marx - and you can reserve certain days to talk about the Gospel of Jesus Christ or ''the Great Exchange.''
Because when you share the Gospel you are asking people to exchange the old life riddled by sin for a new life redeemed by the Savior. You are asking people to exchange marbles for diamonds, the temporal for the eternal, rags for riches, and mediocrity for the magnificent.
I love II Corinthians 5, because in this chapter in verses 9-20 the Apostle Paul gives us 6 powerful reasons why we should be sharing our faith. We should not even need a reason to share our faith, because if God commands us to witness (and he does) that should be sufficient reason in itself, because He is sovereign. If He says it, that settles it - right?
But God gives us 6 reasons for sharing our faith. Let's look at them briefly:
In verse 9-10 we have the review factor. Paul says, ''For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ.'' I believe at the judgment seat of Christ our savior will ask us, ''With how many people did you share the Gospel? How faithfully did you share your testimony? How many people will be in heaven because of your witness?''
In verse 11 we have the retribution factor. Paul says, ''Knowing therefore, the terror of the Lord, we persuade men.'' What is going to happen to lost people when they die? They are going to an eternal hell where the worm dieth not and the fire is not quenched. Witnessing to a lost soul is like pulling a child out of a burning buildi ...
