TELL ME ABOUT HELL: WHAT'S IT LIKE?

JESUS CHRIST believed there was a hell. He believed it so firmly
that He warned people of the danger of going there.
He believed it so conclusively that He died to enable people not
to go there.
A recent Gallup Poll revealed that 54% of those interviewed said
they are certain of a definite place of future torment. Jesus
said He was 100% certain of it.
Previously I preached on Heaven with great joy and delight. On
this occasion I preach on the only other alternative with a
heavy heart and great sadness. I do so because I believe in
hell, and lament that some hearing a warning this day to avoid
it will not heed that warning.
If a bridge is out and a person who knows it be out warns a
traveler, is he using scare tactics or exercising loving
concern? If there are explosive mines in a harbor and a sea
captain is warned as to where they are, is the informer
exercising scare tactics or trying to prevent a tragedy? If a
person knows there to be a hell and lovingly tries to urge
people to avoid it, is he using scare tactics or expressing the
highest form of love?
The testimony of many lost persons in their moment of death
indicates they were convinced of hell.
Sir Thomas Scott, on his deathbed, said, "Until this moment I
thought there was neither God nor a hell. Now I KNOW and
FEELthat there are both, and I am doomed to perdition by the
judgment of Almighty God."
Voltaire, the noted French infidel, said to his doctor, "I am
abandoned by God and man! I will give you half ...
