JESUS CHRIST and His beloved relationship with His church is
used as a graphic illustration of what the relationship between
husband wife should be. It is a peerless example of how all
relationships should work.
Husband/wife and parent/child relationships are often in need of
repair. With that in mind, let's examine and resolve to apply
precepts found in I Peter 3:8:
"Finally, all of you be of one mind,
having compassion for one another:
love as brothers,
be tenderhearted,
be courteous."
A good relationship is like insurance. If you need it and you
don't have it, it is too late to get it. A good relationship
has:
I.HARMONY "Be of one mind"
Most couples agree on this but can't agree on which mind.
Instruments in an orchestra share a common tuning. In most
cases it is 440 vibrations per second. Jesus must be our
"A-440."
II Corinthians 6:14 "Be ye not unequally yoked together..."
If two persons can't agree on the basic spiritual conviction,
discord is likely.
I Corinthians 7:39 "The wife is bound by the law as long asher
husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to
marry to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord."
II Chron. 8:11 (READ) shows how Solomon's wife who was unworthy
and undeserving of even going into the house of God began to
drag him down. I Kings 11:4 says of the relationship:
"his wives turned away his heart after other gods."
