Moses will give this new generation of Jews a blow by blow account of the failures of their forefathers. In the opening verses of this chapter he informs them that upon leaving Egypt they had came to Mount Horeb and from there they were only eleven days away from Kadesh-Barnea, which was literally the entrance into the ''Promised Land.''

The rebellious rabble-rousers ended up wandering around in the wilderness for 38 long years, when it should have only taken them eleven days. The Lord had killed off the parents and grandparents of those that were now about to enter into the ''Promised Land.''

In verse 6, Moses is taking them all the way back to the days when they had first came to ''Mount Horeb,'' which was a mountainous region, whereas ''Mount Sinai'' was a specific mountainous peak.

The Lord came to Moses and had a divine word for the ''Children of Israel.'' The people had set up camp in this region for around one year. During this time Moses had received specific statues from the Lord. It was there that he had received the ''Ten Commandments,'' not just once, but twice.

The Lord's observation was straight to the point; it was now time for Israel to move forward. The people had been camped out in this one spot for around one year and it was now time to go. When the Lord gives us orders to go, the best thing that we do is ''go!!!''

The direction they were to go was clear, they were to head toward the ''Land of the Amorites and the Canaanites.'' The Lord was preparing them to take the ''Promised Land,'' but they would not take it. The people were f ...
