Introduction
1. Today is going to be a very unusual message, because I am going to admit up front this message probably doesn't apply to most of us most of the time. Then that raises the question, ''Why would I bother preaching it?'' Because, I hope you will see that it should apply to more of us for another time.
2. There are two things that are true about all of us. On the one hand, we all at some time or another suffer for some reason. We break a leg, lose a job, flunk a test, blow an interview, miss an appointment, bounce a check, or get a ticket for speeding. Things happen to all of us.
3. On the other hand, we do all we can to avoid suffering. We pay our bills, buckle up, watch where we walk, prepare for the interview, and study for the exam. In spite of our best efforts, we still suffer. There is another kind of suffering that most of us don't experience very often. For those of us who are Christ followers, if we were more devout Christ followers, if we walk the walk and not just talk the talk, we would suffer much more, not because of what we do to ourselves, but because of what others would do to us.
4. There are two ways you can suffer - fairly and unfairly. Sometimes we suffer, because we get what we deserve. Sometimes we suffer, because we get what we don't. That is what we are going to talk about today.
5. We are in a series that we are calling, ''Yes...but.'' We are acknowledging some things that are definitely true that are not necessarily positive. For example, yes, there are times when you get the short end of the stick and life is not going to be fair, but what some may mean for evil, God means for good. Compared to God, we are all sinners and none of us are worthy of God, His grac ...
