Amos 1:3-2:16
This morning, I continue a sermon series through the book of Amos. Find that minor prophecy in your Bible. I'll give you a hint; it's between Genesis and Revelation. A little better hint? Between Psalms and Malachi. I have called this series Let Justice Roll. Justice and righteousness is a theme of this book. The title comes directly from Amos 5:24 where it says, ''Let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.'' (ON SCREEN)
This morning, we're looking at Amos 1 and 2 in a sermon entitled, A Change in Perspective. READ 1:1-3a, 6a, 9a, 11a, 13a, 2:1a, 4-8, 13-16 - PRAY

So as we read these verses, it's easy to think that this is all about the nations of the world, a description of their sin, and an explanation of how bad they are. But perspective is an amazing thing. Joni Erickson Tada says, ''Perspective is everything when you are experiencing the challenges of life.'' So imagine with me that you have a video camera in your hand. Right now, we're looking at the nations of the world as described in these two chapters. So, we're facing down, or looking around. The news is grim, much like it is in our world today. There is division, wickedness, human trafficking, sacrifices of the unborn, mass shootings, nasty rhetoric, and overall chaos. That's one perspective, and it is certainly true. But now, I want you to take your video camera and instead of looking down or around, I want you to look up. Here's a perspective that we never get in ou ...
