FAITH THAT WONDERS (MARVELS): MOSES
HEBREWS 11: 23 - 29
JESUS CHRIST spoke of the verbal reward of those who prove to be
His loyal followers. They will hear His "well done you good and
faithful servant." Moses is a classic example of one who
incorporated elements of a faithful servant. He had ---
I.A FAITH THAT RECEIVES (Vs. 23)
His parents were Amram and Jochabed (Exodus 6:20). They had:
a. Cooperate faith, b. Courageous faith, c. Contagious faith.
Moses older sister Miriam caught their faith Because of it she
carefully watched the water where baby Moses was placed. A
babies tears and a sisters tact were used of God.
II.A FAITH THAT REJECTS (Vss. 24, 25)
It is comparatively easy to say "yes" to God but hard to say
"no" to the world. To truly say "yes" to God you must say "no"
to the world. Because of His great faith he "refused to be
called the son of Pharaoh's daughter." This cost him dearly.
He rejected the "pleasures of sin" (Vs. 25c). This expression
is a reference to worldly or carnal success in general. That
kind of rejection is too much for some today.
III.A FAITH THAT RELATES (Vs. 26)
Moses: a. left the palace, b. the problem, c. God's purpose.
He chose "to suffer affliction with the people of God" (Vs. 25b)
and thus could relate to "the reproach of Christ." Reproach
means ridicule and persecution.
This involved "esteeming" = HEGEOMAI = gave careful thoughtto.
IV.A FAITH THAT REWARDS (Vss. 26b - 29)
Moses chose between the immediate "treasures of Egypt" (Vs. 26b)
and the ultimate "reward" of God (vs. 26b).
