If you've got your Bibles with you now this evening, if you will be finding your place, really at the little bitty letter of Titus. Now that may be a little difficult for some of you all to find. So I'll give you a little bit of extra time to get your location there.
For those of you who failed Vacation Bible School, let me give you a little bit of help. Titus comes right after second Timothy and second Timothy comes right after what? First Timothy. First Timothy. A bunch of bright bulbs in the box tonight. Amen? Amen.
Titus, Chapter 1 and verse number 1. Tonight I promise you...I tell you this is not going to take three years. Tonight we're going to begin a really short study...again just a short seven or so week study through this little practical, applicable, powerful letter that Paul wrote to another one of his preacher boys, a young man by the name of Titus.
Evidently Paul had a special place in his heart. He loved really mentoring and teaching and discipling and training these young men who'd been saved under his ministry. All day as I've looked at that line, there's a gentleman, a pastor that keeps coming to my mind and I really want to be more like Pastor Radu Cifor. Pastor Radu, there in Beclean, Romania and I've been there many, many times.
One of the unique things about Pastor Radu's ministry is wherever he pastors, there's always a large group of young people that he is mentoring and discipling and bringing on. He's kind of like a pied piper. I want to be that guy. That's the guy that Paul was. And you wouldn't normally think about Paul being that way, but he absolutely was.
And so we're going to entitle this study that we're going to be in here for the next seven or eight weeks, ''Our Man in Crete'' because that's exactly what Titus was. Titus was a spiritual Chuck Norris. Titus was a spiritual Jack Bauer. Are you getting the picture? Raise you ...
