Series: Regifting Christmas

John 1:14
Sermon Summary: Christmas is about the gift of Jesus' PRESENCE to us. We can re-gift the gift of presence to others. That presence will be 1) A PHYSICAL presence, 2) A HUMBLE presence and 3) A VULNERABLE presence.

3) Yule - Yule derives from an Old Norse word, jól, that was once the name of a 12-day pagan festival leading up to what we now call Christmas Day.
4) Noel - Noel is a French variant of nael, which comes from the Latin word natalis which means ''birth.''
5) Advent - ''Advent'' is the season of preparation before Christmas, lasting around 4 weeks. It comes from the Latin word adventus which means ''arrival'' or ''coming.''
6) Nativity - Comes from the Latin word nativus, which means birth.
7) Wassailing - Wassailing is just another term for caroling. It comes from an Old Norse phrase ves heill, meaning ''be healthy,'' and was a common greeting.

9) Hark - This word means listen and comes from Old English.
10) Immanuel - Immanuel is a Hebrew word meaning ''God with us.'' It appears in the O.T. book of Isaiah, and in the Gospel of Matthew it is applied to Jesus as a title.
