DON'T ARGUE WITH GOD
EXODUS 3: 1 - 5
JESUS CHRIST said, "You shall be my witnesses..."
Our spiritual life is invisible and impossible for the world to
see. Therefore, God designed the church to be a visible evidence
to the world as a collective testimony to the power of the
gospel.
In previous times this church has been a bold and beautiful
witness to this community. A previous membership extended itself
to reach a large segment of this community. Under the wise and
loving appointment of God this is OUR hour. For it, we will be
held accountable in eternity. Will we do our best?
(DIAGRAM OF CHURCH GROWTH WILL BE VISUALIZED AT THIS POINT).
As in previous generations, many will say "yes" to this mission
and ministry. Before doing so some will offer God excuses as to
why He should do it without them.
God told Moses what He proposed to do in delivering the children
of Israel from slavery in Egypt. Summarily Moses response was,
"Great God, you do it and I will cheer for you." God said in
effect, "No, Moses I am going to use you to do it." Moses
offered five basic protests not dissimilar to our own.
Today God says, "I will build my church." We say, "Marvelous,
God do it dramatically and decisively," God says, "I am going to
reach the lost...utilize the media...construct new
buildings...disciple my people...teach the young...visit the
lost...minister to the needs of my people..." We say, "DO IT
God!" He says, I want to do it through YOU." We resurrect
Moses'old excuses and explain to God why we can't be counted on
to get the job done. God still answers our feeble excuses.
