I was perusing the news headlines this weekend and stumbled on an internet article about the rising popularity of black Christmas trees. One company has reported a 70% increase in the sale of black Christmas trees and they are the 4th most popular color tree on the market this year. Despite everything fashion and interior design being outside my small bubble of expertise, I clicked on the article to see what the fuss was about.

The article displayed several different pictures and Instagram posts of black Christmas trees and I have to say, there were some nice trees pictured.
- One of the trees was black, had a little baby blue in it and was covered with Carolina Panthers ornaments which was pretty cool. I still have a soft spot for them because we were in NC when their NFL franchise was getting off the ground.
-The article pictured another tree that was covered in bright lights and shiny silver ornaments and the contrast of the black tree, bright lights and sparkling silver was beautiful.

What really caught my attention was not the statistics or the different trees but a lady in one of the pictures decorating her tree. What really caught my eye was what she was wearing. She had on black shorts and a black ladies t-shirt, which if you're decorating a black Christmas tree is appropriate. (Jason coordinates his outfit with his tree, army green).

Now, I don't have a problem with black shorts or t-shirts. Black has always been my favorite color for t-shirts anyway. It was what was on the shirt that captured my attention. In large letters across the front of her shirt was the word ''satan'' and under it the words ''is my daddy.''

It's not that I didn't know there is part of our culture that is into the gothic style and even the occult.
