Suffer Well (5 of 7)
Series: Bucket List
James Merritt
John 19: 28-29
Introduction
1. One of the hardest parts of Christmas is finding gifts that are unique that other people don't have, but could use. We all have people that it is very hard to buy for, because they basically have all they need. I have come across a gift that you could really buy for most anybody. I've never met anybody that has one. They are called the ''Tikker watch.'' [Alfred - show picture - Pastor will send you the website]. This is a watch that not only predicts when you will die; it actually gives you a countdown to your final seconds. Swedish inventor, Fredrik Colting, created the watch that is now called by many ''the death watch.''
2. You fill out a questionnaire about your medical history and then you subtract your age from the results to get your death score. That is entered into the Tikker and the countdown begins. Suggestion: Don't give it to your 94-year-old grandmother.
3. The watch is designed to help people make the most of their life and cherish the time they have left. Of course, nobody really knows when or where we are going to die, but there is a thought about death that increasingly pops into your mind as you get older and that is ''How are you going to die?'' I can't even tell you how many times I've had people say this, ''I don't know how I am going to die. I just don't want to suffer.'' That is why we are in this series called, ''Bucket List.'' Whether we have written them down or not, everybody has a bucket list of things they would like to do, see, or experience before they die. There is a difference between what we want to do before we die and what we had better do before we die.
4. I believe there are 7 things every person should make sure they do before they die, if they want to live well, and die well. This is not my list; this is the list of Jesus. Knowing He only had a few hours to live, Jesus, through 7 things He said as He was dying, showed u ...
