PHILIPPIANS 4: 15 - 20
(PAGE 1718 COME ALIVE BIBLE)
JESUS CHRIST equips us for life. The apostle Paul, one of
Christ's choice trophies of redemption, believed this and
therefore wrote: "I can do all things through Christ who
strengthens me" (Phil. 4:13). Do you REALLY believe this?
Various translations are all true to the text, but each makes it
a bit more understandable. Note these:
"I am ready for anything through the strength of the One who
lives within me" (Phillips).
"I am self-sufficient in Christ's sufficiency" (AMP).
"I can do everything God asks me to with the help of Christ who
gives me the strength and power" (Living Bible).
"I can do everything God asks me to..." Everything? Everything!
Paul was sharing his personal convictions with friends who had
demonstrated they also believed that truth. I want to appeal to
you to actively engage in a process of proving you also believe
it.
Paul was on a missionary journey to Thessalonica without
resources. He went simply because he felt compelled of the Lord
to go. He trusted God to meet his needs.
The church at Phillipi was made up of Christians made bankrupt
by the practices of the pagan culture against them. Some of
them were even slaves. Nevertheless, they became God's
instruments for meeting Paul's needs because they trusted God
andtruly believed He would supply their needs as they supplied
Paul's.
Our's, as their's, must be a 3 step advance. First, there was
the identification of the need. Next, interest in the need.
Finally, there was involvement.
