JESUS CHRIST said, "No man can serve two masters..."
He constantly appealed to persons to make choices. He knew that
we soon became the sum total of our decisions. One decision at
a time you choose to become what you are. One person is a
Christian. One is not. They are what they are because of what
they have chosen to believe.
In the O.T. Joshua challenged the people of his nation to make a
strategic choice. As a faithful young spy he had brought the
minority report that resulted in the people eventually venturing
into the land of promise. The Lord had laid the mantel of
leadership on him when Moses died. He led the people into the
land of promise and emerged victorious in the battles with the
kings of the land. Now as an old man Joshua gathered all the
tribes of Israel at Schechem where he presided over his last
congress. There they gathered in the scenic mountain pass
between mounts Ebal and Gerizin. He presented ---
I.PROPOSITION "Choose you this day whom you will serve..."
Choose - The marvel is that we must choose but that we may
choose.
HE EXPLAINED THE DIFFICULTY (Vs. 19)
"Holy" = pure from all evil.
"Jealous" = zealously intent on His purpose = your holiness. He
is as concerned about your happiness as He is your holiness. He
knows once you are holy you will be happy.
Sometimes it is difficult to serve Him. John Bunyan: "I will
