Have you ever wanted MORE out of your spiritual life? Have you ever felt like coming to God, like the little boy in the movie clip, and saying, ''Please sir, may I have some more?'' Have you ever thought to yourself, ''The fruit of the spirit is love, joy and peace. Why am I not more joyful? Why am I not more loving? Why am I not more at peace? I mean, I'm a Christian. I've been saved. I have the Holy Spirit. And yet, I read about the Christians in the Bible, the persecution, adversity and obstruction that they went through and yet maintained their joy. Then I compare that to my lack of joy in the face of ''first world'' problems. What's going on?'' Or when we read about modern Christians in publications like voice of the martyrs and what they endure with a joyful, loving and grateful spirit.
ILLUSTRATION: Helen Berhane was a singer and worship leader in an outlawed church in Eritrea (East Africa). She sang worship songs to her Savior before she was arrested by Eritrean officials. And in prison, she kept on singing. Her captors were determined that they would silence her voice of praise. To punish her, they locked Helen in a shipping container for 10 months with a woman who suffered from severe mental illness. VOM Radio asked how she survived those months.
