HOW TO PROFIT FROM THE MESSAGE OF THE PROPHET
Romans 1: 1 - 6
JESUS CHRIST came that you might have Christmas and that you
might have a Merry Christmas.
In Him the fullness of the Godhead dwells bodily, yet He took on
Him the form of a servant, and was made in our likeness. He was
the desire of all nations, yet He was despised and rejected of
men. He was the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, yet He was led as a
lamb to the slaughter. He as the Mighty God, yet He became
Mary's only son. He was the Father of Eternity, yet He became
Bethlehem's Babe.
The miracles involved in the birth, life, death, and
resurrection of this God/man raise some vital questions. Such
as:
I.WHO? (WHO WAS HE?)
Romans 1: 3,4 is but one passage that clearly identifies Him. He
was "born of the seed of David according to the flesh." In order
for a person to be king they must prove their pedigree. Most
races consider royal genealogies to be strategically important.
No nation has ever considered this more important than ancient
Israel. They were important because:
According to Numbers 26 & 35 after the conquest of Canna each
person had to be able to validate their tribe, family line, and
father's house. This was essential in order to properly identify
the right location of their land.
Ruth 3 & 4 notes land could only be bought or sold within the
tribe. Therefore, ones genealogy was essential for business.
The importance of family trees was still a factor at the time of
Christ's birth.
Matthew traced Christ lineage down through Joseph from Abraham
through David.
