THE EMMANUEL FACTOR
Luke 2: 1 - 20
JESUS CHRIST was called Emmanuel, meaning God with us. Isaiah,
the prophet, has said He would be called "the Mighty God." God
is with us TODAY.
Apart from Him, life is listless and hopeless. There is no joy.
Peace is an impossibility. Social order breaks down and even the
economy is frustrated.
Life looks as futile as the pessimist paints it apart from the
Emmanuel Factor. When all the circumstances of life are added
up, despair prevails. However, when the Emmanuel Factor is
considered a new dimension is added.
Take our economy for example. For many businesses the year looks
bleak...then comes Christmas. A leading economist has noted, "No
five words ever spoken have affected the economy like these:
'They presented unto Him gifts'."
There was a traffic jam on I-285 recently that had traffic
backed up all the way around the perimeter. It was caused by the
birth of a baby born nearly 2,000 years ago. Normally the drab
streets of Rome, Paris, London, and Berlin are ablaze with
lights today because of a baby. Jesus Christ, the Emmanuel
Factor, has impacted every culture.
The angels spoke truth in their birth announcement near
Bethlehem. Consider these parts of their praise:
I.GOOD TIDINGS (Vs. 10)
"Fear not for a I bring you good tidings..." What did the angels
do with the good tidings? "And when they had seen it, theymade
known abroad the saying which was told them...and the shepherds
returned, glorifying and praising God..."
Later in life Jesus said, "Ye are my witnesses." Before His
return to heaven He said, "Go ye the ...
