The moment we live in our country and with the events of the last several decades or more, Christians must be prepared to address the issue of homosexuality. And so today, it's my intent to do just that - articulate the Bible's view on the subject of homosexuality.

We invite your questions throughout this series. The next two week's topics are listed there and we invite you to join us as we discuss the Reliability of the Gospels next Sunday. Today, you can ask anything you want to ask. Again, ask whatever you want to ask. We are not afraid to engage in a honest dialogue with you - we'd welcome it. But please be respectful.

Here in the opening, I'm going to speak for a little more than ten minutes and then we will take questions. We will not be able to get to every question, but we will try. Thank you for your patience with us.

The Culture and Homosexuality - Opening Question/Statement

The moment we live in our country and with the events of the last several decades or more, Christians must be prepared to address the issue of homosexuality. It's an issue that is highly controversial in our culture as even the Supreme Court is weighing a decision on this issue - same-sex unions. We are witnessing what New York Times writer Frank Bruni describes as ''a profound social and political revolution.'' Every day the media overflows with news regarding the legality and ethics of homosexuality. Some thirty-seven states have recognized same sex marriages with Alabama being the last state to do so. The remaining thirteen states ban same-sex unions but this is contested currently in the courts.

And it's just not debated in the courts for during the halftime of the Super Bowl, we witnessed Katy Perry provide the entertainment. The daughter of a Pentecostal pastor, sings one of her more popular songs: ''I Kissed a Girl and I liked it.'' Added to this is a real move in our culture ...
