Introduction: The apostle Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 15, ''And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain. We are even found to be misrepresenting God, because we testified about God that he raised Christ, ... And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied,'' (1 Corinthians 15:14-15a, 17-19). Paul's point, if you couldn't tell, is that if Jesus never rose from the dead then, honestly, we're just a bunch of morons here wasting our time. Right, this whole thing is absolutely pointless. There is no church without the resurrection. There is no Christianity without the resurrection. There are no songs, there is no preaching, there is nothing without the resurrection.

It's the resurrection that determines whether or not everything contained in this book is true or not. It's the resurrection that determines whether Jesus was indeed God or, instead, just some lunatic or liar. It's the resurrection that determines what the future will hold. I mean Jesus preached about the coming of God's Kingdom; as we've seen in John's Gospel He talked about making all things new, about bring life abundant and full. If there is no resurrection of Jesus then there is no hope of any of those things. Everything hinges upon the resurrection.

You see the resurrection of Jesus, though, isn't just significant for Christians, however. If the resurrection is, indeed, true, then everything is different for all of humanity. If the resurrection is true then that means Jesus is who He said He was, which means that every person must respond to Him as savior and lord.
