Tonight, again, we're starting a brand new series of studies through this first book in your Bible, the book of Genesis, that I want to entitle ''The Book of Beginnings''. The book of Genesis literally means, beginning. That's what the name means. Genesis means beginning. There are a couple of reasons why it's called that.
Number one - out of the 66 books in your Bible, it comes first. It is the beginning book in your Bible. It is at the Genesis or the beginning of your Bible. Another reason, maybe even the main reason why this book is called Genesis is because in this book we are told about the beginning of so many things. We are told here about the beginning of time and history. We're told about the beginning of the universe. We're told about the beginning of this planet.
We're told about the beginning of mankind, the family, worship, sin, death, and redemption. We're told about the beginning of prophecy here in the very beginning book of the Bible, the book of Genesis.
