All right. If you have your Bibles with you now this evening, be finding your place at the very first book in your Bible. Genesis chapter one, and verse number one.

Tonight we're going to begin; really, I don't have a clue, folks, how long we will be here. But you know what? Every Sunday night in the book is a good Sunday night. Amen? We're will begin looking here tonight at Genesis chapter one and verse number one. By the way, if you're still looking for Genesis chapter one verse one two minutes from now, you're in trouble. Amen?

Make sure that you're there in Genesis chapter one and verse number one. Tonight, again, we're starting a brand new series of studies through this first book in your Bible, the book of Genesis, that I want to entitle ''The Book of Beginnings''. The book of Genesis literally means, beginning. That's what the name means. Genesis means beginning. There are a couple of reasons why it's called that.

Number one - out of the 66 books in your Bible, it comes first. It is the beginning book in your Bible. It is at the Genesis or the beginning of your Bible. Another reason, maybe even the main reason why this book is called Genesis is because in this book we are told about the beginning of so many things. We are told here about the beginning of time and history. We're told about the beginning of the universe. We're told about the beginning of this planet.

We're told about the beginning of mankind, the family, worship, sin, death, and redemption. We're told about the beginning of prophecy here in the very beginning book of the Bible, the book of Genesis. All of those things we're told about the very beginning of so many things here in this first book of the Bible; that's why it's called the book of Genesis.
