THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE MOST BORING PASSAGE IN THE BIBLE

JESUS CHRIST at a point in time took on a new address. Leaving
Heaven He ventured to planet earth to domicile with us. That
event is celebrated around the world to the present time. When
asked why we celebrate Christmas we might well reply:
1.Because historically something happened for me.
"Without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was
manifest in flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels,
preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received
up into glory" (I Timothy 3:16).
2.Because personally something happened to me.
"If any man be in Christ he is a new creature... (II Cor. 5:17).
3.Because currently something is happening in me.
"God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not
imputing their trespasses to them..." (II Cor. 5:19).
This is the message over which the rationalists stumble, by
which the humanists are offended, by which the New Agers are
perplexed. They profess all IS God, therefore, you are god. If
you are god, you need no reconciliation with God. Daily I am
being reconciled to God -- because I need to be.
Amid all the secular trapping and commercial wrapping don't
forget what it is we celebrate. It is the birth of the King.
Let the historical narrative of His earth-walk be fast-forwarded
and hear this description of the babe upon which yougaze in
Bethlehem: "His eyes were like a flame of fire...He was clothed
in a robe dripped in blood, and His name was called the Word of
