PSALMS 37: 1 - 5

I.DELIGHT THYSELF IN THE LORD (Vs. 4)
This speaks of our desires. Seek for the delicacies of the Lord.
Be ambitious for excellence. Seek to serve so as to please. A.
Delight yourself in God's existence.
B. Delight yourself in His Dominion. "The Lord reigneth, let the
earth rejoice." He is the King. Do you agree, He rules things
well?
C. Delight yourself in His attributes. Every characteristic
should be considered a fresh ray of sunlight of delight.
1. That He is wise should delight us in light of our lack of
understanding.
2. We who tremble at our own weakness should delight that He is
all mighty.
3. We who know we are as the grass or green herbs that wither
should delight that He is eternal.
4. That He is unchanging should put a song in our hearts because
of our vascilating change.
5. That He is full of grace should delight us.
The object of our desires is a magnet that draws us toward
itself; wealth, honor, acceptance.
Our desire controls our thoughts, aims, and actions. What the
sun is to the solar system, what the computer chip is to the
digital watch, so ones desire is to the life.
Sometime ago I was visiting with friends out west. They
graciously picked my companion and me up at the airport. We
gotin the backseat. Our host, the driver, turned on the after
burner and blasted off the parking lot. We could tell at once we
were about to observe an exhibit of stunt driving. Red lights
offered no delay. Oncoming cars were challenged to a game of
"chicken." All of this was thrilling enough ...
