THE PASSION OF THE SPIRIT (2 OF 6)
The Passion of the Spirit (2 of 6)
Series: The Holy Spirit

?Acts 2
Good morning, and welcome to The Chapel. We are taking six weeks to focus on the Holy Spirit. So last week, we learned that the Holy Spirit has always existed, because the Holy Spirit is God. BUT...the night before Jesus went to the cross, he made this amazing promise to his disciples: that after he left them, the Holy Spirit-who's always been out there-would actually come to live in them. And so their job was to sit tight and wait for that to happen. So today, we're going to look at that awesome moment when the promise was fulfilled, and the Holy Spirit went from just being out there to being in here.
As we do that, here's what I want you to look for: when the Holy Spirit shows up in this new way, what does he seem to be most passionate about? In other words, when the Holy Spirit comes and fills these people, what does he inspire them to do? How is their life with the Holy Spirit different from their life without the Holy Spirit? That's the question I want you to focus on as we look at this Scripture. Why is that important? Well, because if you don't really get what the Holy Spirit is passionate about, you'll be constantly out of sync with God. You won't sense God's power or leading in your life; it will just be frustrating. On the other hand, when we do understand the Spirit's passion, and then align our own passion with his passion, everything starts to change.
So...let's look at today's passage. Acts chapter two is a very long chapter, so we're going to skip over a few sections, but we'll get the main idea. So follow me here-Acts 2, verse 1:
1 When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Ho ...
