We are taking six weeks to talk about this mysterious concept of the Holy Spirit. And the first week, we learned three basic truths about the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is divine, as in God. So just as much a God the Father and God the Son are God, God the Holy Spirit is God. Secondly, the Holy Spirit is personal. In other words, the Holy Spirit is not just a force, or an energy. The Holy Spirit is a personal being, which is why we refer to the Spirit as ''he''; not ''it.'' And then thirdly, the Holy Spirit is powerful. And like we said the first week: you and I were intended to live with power. We were not meant to just kind of slide by, under the radar-you know, not cause any trouble. We were meant to show up every day of our lives, and powerfully influence and bless the lives of the people around us. And that looks different with our different personalities and different callings, but we were meant to live with power. The problem is, very often, we don't.

I found this really interesting: if you read books on a Kindle, you can highlight passages. And Kindle keeps track of the passages that people highlight. So the last I checked, there was one line, from one book, that was the most highlighted passage ever. You know what it was? It's from the second book in The Hunger Games series. And here's the sentence: ''Because sometimes things happen to people, and they're not equipped to deal with them.'' That's the line. Sometimes things happen to people, and they're not equipped to deal with them. Why did that resonate with so many people-especially the younger readers of The Hunger Games? I think it's because life can be confusing, and it can beat you down, and there are times when you just feel powerless. Right?

So today we're going to talk about what it means to connect our lives with the power of the Holy Spirit. And our passage today is actually just one verse. A ...
