The Psalmist has said, "Be still and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.." What a wonderful truth that is -- to know that God is God.

God desires for you to listen to Him. And most Christians desire to know how to listen to God more than anything else. But there are not very many listeners. However, there are a lot of talkers.

Perhaps this is an experience familiar to you. A man began his quiet time. He would read the Word of God, and then he would begin to pray. He would pray for himself and for his own personal needs. He would pray for the needs of his family, for the needs of his friends, and just talk to the Lord about those particular areas. Then he would stop and close his Bible and get up and go about his day. In all honesty -- he really didn't take the time to listen.

God has some very important principles on how to listen to Him -- some things that you need to do that will enhance the voice of God and help you to avoid some of he mistakes that you make every day.

When you really listen -- God has some things to say to you. As you go about your daily business, you will become aware of the truths that He shares and impresses upon your heart to help you know how to handle life's situations. When those situations develop, it's almost as if you've already gone through them. He gives you ways to make your life a lot easier in your everyday encounters.

God has some very intimate things that He wants to share with you, things that He wants you to be aware of. You may talk about your family. You may talk about your children. You may talk about some personal needs. You need to sit down with God and talk to Him about these things.

You need to understand that God's still, small voice wants to direct you and guide you in His perfect will for your life. Yet sometimes -- Christians are like children.
