Exodus 3:7

The church is in the business of saving lives. Hospitals and doctors are in the business of saving physical lives, but the church is in the business of saving the whole life of people: body, soul and spirit. The story you just heard of what happened with Chris Dunn was more than just God giving him the strength to get across the lake so that his physical life would be preserved. It was way more than that. Chris' story is the story of someone who cried out to God from the depths of his soul, and God heard him, and reached down and saved Him. Chris Dunn is an example that ANYONE who cries out to God truly from their heart will find Him - because God took the initiative and found Chris!

Exodus 3:7 And the Lord said: ''I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows.

Look at the very next verse: Exodus 3:8 So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites.

Wait a minute! God not only saw their oppression and heard their cry because of the bondage they were in, but He did something about it. He took the initiative and delivered them. But not only did He deliver them, but He had plans to bless them and to defeat all their enemies!
