2 Timothy 1:7

I took a poll to help me understand the things that people are afraid of, even Christians. Here was the question: ''What are the things in your life that make you anxious or fearful?''

The responses were pretty widespread, but here were the responses. I placed them into 2 categories, ''personal'' and ''other-minded:''

Personal

- Money

- My future

- Health problems

- Losing everything

- Job security

- Fear of failure

- Failing my family

- Failing at work

- Wearing so many hats and trying not to drop the ball anywhere

- Being enough

- Being able to get it all done

- Not measuring up

- Rejection

- What others think of me

- Obeying God quickly

- Image

- Safety

- Loneliness

Other-minded

- My children's safety

- Salvation of family

- Husband not having a relationship with God

- Children walking away from God

- Child's well being

- Future spouses

- Adult children choices

- Kids always knowing God

The issue is not having fears and anxieties. Fears are like temptations. It is not a sin to be tempted, but the sin is when we give into the temptation. The same is true with fears. It is not a sin to have fears. The issue is what do we do about it when they come.

So let's establish a few truths around this topic from the scriptures:

Let's talk about what the Word says about FEAR first. ...
