PROVERBS 31: 10 - 31
JESUS CHRIST, who can to fulfill the law, set an example for
each of us regarding honoring His mother. Even amid the agony of
the cross He provided for His mother.
Recently a television interviewer asked a former Mrs. America if
the greatest thrill of her life wasn't walking down the runway
after being crowned Mrs. America. "Yes," she said, "this is an
unimaginable thrill but there is one greater thrill. That is to
be here in the afternoon when the children come home from school
and my husband from work and to hear them greet me as 'Mom'".
Motherhood is a greater role than Mrs. America. Today in paying
tribute to our mothers, may we do it in such a way as to glorify
our Heavenly Father.
Consider her role. First, what she is not:
A SMOTHER
1.By taking the potential role too lightly and engaging in
illicit pre-marital relations, a young woman can smother her
chances of enjoying to the fullest her role. Don't jeopardize
the joy of motherhood by entering the role improperly.
Lloyd Shearer, writing in "Parade" offers what he calls a
growing mountain of statistics compiled over 10 years. He states
that 40% of the teenage girls who marry have already jeopardized
the joy of motherhood and are expectant mothers at the time of
their marriage. Of these, one out of 3 will be divorced in less
than 5 years. Further studies reveal that their children make up
the greater part of the population of our prisons and asylums.
In a recent year 500,000 girls were married under 18 years of
age, 20,000 were between the ages of 12 and 15.
