UNDERSTANDING PRAISE
Part 1
I'm glad that you're here tonight. I pray that you would use
this midweek lift not only to take notes on the back of your
bulletin but also to keep abreast of what's happening in the
ministry of our church. This is probably the format eventually
our bulletin will end up going to, but let me encourage you to
put that in your Bible and maybe read it later and maybe there
are some things in there to pray about. There are some folks in
the hospital that you need to lift up in prayer. So I pray that
you would use this as a guide for you in your own particular
ministry.
Why don't you take your Bibles and turn to Psalms 42, the Book
of Psalms. Do you know what the Book of Psalms is about? Many
people say it is the book of Psalms, well, it is only Psalms, it
really means "song". This is one hugh song. You know, if
anything is true about the Book of Psalms, The Book of Songs if
you will, it is that David and the writers really shared their
hearts. You know one of the reasons I think Country Western
Music is really gaining a lot of predominance today, it is
because first of all, it is sung slow enough and us "folks down
here in the South" can understand their accents well enough to
understand the words. But it's not just understanding the
words, it's a sharing of their hearts, what they are going
through in the life events that someone is stealing. That's
exactly what these Psalms are all about. They are the heartbeat
of the feeling of the psalmist. I don't know what you've walked
through this week, I don't know what you are feeling, maybe you
