WHOLE-HEARTED WORSHIP
UNDERSTANDING PRAISE
Part 2
I love the Psalms, I don't know about you but boy, when you read
the Psalms and you find David saying several times, "God,
get'um, I mean get'um God 'cause they're after me!" Or
sometimes you find him saying, "God, don't let'um get me!", but
then there are times where David really cries out with his heart
full of praise like in Psalm 63,
"Oh God, You are my God,
earnestly I seek You;
my soul thirsts for You,
my body longs for You,
in a dry and weary land
where there is no water.'
"I have seen You in the sanctuary
and beheld Your power and Your glory.
Because Your love is better than life,
my lips will glorify You.
I will praise You as long as I live,
and in Your name I will lift up my hands.
My soul will be satisfied as with the
richest of foods;
with singing lips my mouth will praise You.'
"On my bed I remember You;
I think of You through the watches of the night.
Because You are my help,
I sing in the shadow of Your wings.
My soul clings to You;
Your right hand upholds me.'
Boy, if there was ever a man who knew how to write down his
feelings, feelings that you and I have as believers, it was King
David, for he didn't mind sharing transparently what he was
feeling. And that is exactly what praise is all about. As we
talk this second week about understanding praise, which is a
part of what we are studying about whole-hearted worship, we
come afresh to and anew to God's word tonight.
Last week we just looked at about three different Hebrew words.
