PUTTING PARENTS IN THEIR PLACE
Exodus 20:12
"Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in
the land the Lord your God is giving you."
As we come to this fifth critical value to make families strong,
we come to the heart of the family, father and mother. Did you
know that our families are in great distress in our country
today? The nuclear family has had a atomic explosion. The
problem is, it is slowly disintegrating. On top of that, with
divorce in America becoming so prevalent that, there is one
every thirty seconds, we find that more children are without
parents in the home. On top of that now children can divorce
their parents. Are we upside down are what?
This Fifth Commandment is pivotal for our life. Let me give you
a KEY THOUGHT:
The place for our parents as we seek to put them in their proper
place, is the place of honor.

As we look in this passage of scripture, we must understand what
it really means to honor our father and mother and how do you
exactly do that? Before we investigate that, allow me to draw

Commandment. In fact, these two missing ingredients will form
the outline for us to understand this particular Commandment.

to honor your father and mother? There is no time limit. Do
you only honor them when they do what you want them to do? Do
