The message of Easter and the impact of it for the past, present and future is incredibly important...And we celebrate important things...
This morning I want to welcome you in our celebration...We are joining people all over the world in coming together....
You just can't overemphasize the significance of the Resurrection of Jesus...
The significance that it has to
Our past....our sins are washed away, we are reconciled to God...
The present...That there is a promised new life to walk in..
The future....That if we are a believer, a follower...our future is an eternity walking together with God...
Initially at the creation of mankind...Adam walked with God in the garden...
There has been a battle to restore that walk ever since...and victory was obtained at the resurrection...
If you study history, places where there were significant defeats or victories were identified...
There is a book which lists the top ten historical battles:
Vienna Austrian-Ottoman War 1529
Waterloo
Huae-hai in China
Stalingrad
There is also an identity in the significant geographical places historically such as:
Yorktown, Pearl Harbor, Midway, Stalingrad, Omaha Beach, Normandy, Iwo Jima and others...
All of these and many more, impacted history and mankind...
But none like the victory at the resurrection of Jesus Christ....
The battle to defeat sin, to allow God and man to walk together again both in the present and more importantly...in eternity...was won decisively....
It was won in a tomb carved in the side of a mountain that God created!
How is that for irony! (home court advantage)
Let's take a look at what it mean to move from ''death to life''...
