CAN'T BEAT THE REAL THING!
Exodus 20:4-6

"You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything
in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.
You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord
your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin
of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who
hate me, but showing love to thousands who love me and keep my
commandments."

Today I want to talk to you about the real thing in your life.
There are two points I want to share with you. First of all,
the first point is the lure of the lesser and the second the
benefits of the best because worshiping God is the real thing.
Having Jesus in charge of your life that's the real thing and
you can't beat that, so to understand why this commandment is
number two in the line of priorities is important for us to
examine first of all:

I. THE LURE OF THE LESSER
Look in verse 4, the scripture says:

"You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything
in heaven above" (circle that) "or on the earth beneath" (circle
that) "or in the waters below." (circle that).

You know, that about covers it. God says don't allow anything
to take My place, or allow anything to be your image of God.
Now this is not a prohibition of Christian art or anything that
would remind you of our Father in Heaven, but rather, it is a
prohibition of allowing anything to become the substitute, the
spiritual saccharine, for what God really has for you. I want
