THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN LIFE
Exodus 20:1-3
"And God spoke all these words:
'I am the Lord your God,
who brought you out of Egypt,
out of the land of slavery.
'You shall have no other gods before me."
For the last several years we have heard coming from the
political arena the need for family values, it has been on many
political agendas and political platforms; however, our country
is reaping the results of a lack of family values. The cultural
problems that we have in our country today are the result of a
lack of basic moral values that is permeating every strata of
society. When you look at the fact that there is a divorce
every thirty seconds in America and that one out of every four
children is born to an unwed mother, we see that we have some
basic moral problems in our country. However, though people
will say, "I feel like we need traditional family values," no
one really defines them.
William Bennett once said that it is politically correct to
stand on family values, but it is not politically correct to
define them. What are traditional family values? I mean
really, what are they? There is for the individual who believes
in God and His word, values located in the Book of Exodus. They
are the Ten Commandments, they are not fads, but values that
last forever. In fact, they are the bedrock of civilization.
Our Judicial, our law system, is built on it. In fact, Jews,
Moslems and Christians, all believe them. Deuteronomy 6:6-7
teaches us that we are to teach our children these laws.
Though we say we believe them, can you name them? If you were
asked today, right ...
