Centered, speaks of balance. Last week I taught on drifting..

Hebrews 2:1 (NASB95) 1 For this reason we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away from it.

This week I want to start in Matthew Chapter 4 and un-package the first disciples and how they began a life that was centered in Christ...

Ladder analogy...speaks of steps that we take in living a life centered in Jesus!

Matthew 4:18-25 (NASB95)?18 Now as Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon who was called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.?19 And He said to them, ''Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.''?20 Immediately they left their nets and followed Him.?21 Going on from there He saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and He called them.?22 Immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed Him.

First of all, this was not the first time that Jesus had encountered these men.
The Gospel of John shows that they were disciples of John the Baptist, and had already encountered Jesus earlier.

Now however, they decided to take action...

Being centered in Christ...

1. Takes A Decision that leads to Action

There are a lot of people that have ''encountered'' Jesus, know about Jesus, but have not taken the ''action'' of following as a disciple...

These men had a decent life...
