Ephesians 5:1
Ephesians 5:1 (ESV) 1Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.
In continuing with our series on ''the essentials''...and with many people ''new in the faith'' and many have recommitted themselves to Jesus...
I want to talk about what is important to Jesus...
First of all, you are important...there has been a relentless pursuit by God to encounter you...
Even in hiding, God found Adam when he fell in sin...
Adam ''heard the sound'' of God walking in the garden...
I believe that people today, even when estranged and away from God are hearing the sound of the pursuit of God in their lives.
Through brokenness, distress, loss and grief...there is the sound of God's footsteps. He is seeking us out.
Then when we are found....there is a relationship, an acceptance, a surrender to that love in Christ....
And then we are encouraged to become ''imitators''....created in the image of God...
That image has become marred....
''live above your raising''....and we have been ''raised up with him and seated in heavenly places''....
In this Essentials Series, I want to address Loving the Church and specifically, loving YOUR church.
Why?
Because I want to love the things that Jesus loves...
Pastor friend of mine recently has challenged the new believers, and even the old believers.
For one year....be at church every time the doors are open as much as it is possible...join a small group and SERVE...It will change your life!
Why is church important?
Because it's important to Jesus...
Matthew 16:18 (ESV)
18And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock, I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Just as a builder wants people to see the beautiful homes he is building,
Jesus is building something in you that he desires to display to the Father...expound
Be Part of what Jesus is building ...
