Overcoming Disappointment (3 of 4)
Series: Joseph

Genesis 40: 1-4
Recap: Joseph became the 2nd in command in a biblical superpower nation. His leadership saved his family, guided Egypt through 7 years of famine...Thousands of years later we still teach and preach about his life. His life did not start out well, and there are many lessons we can apply to our lives and journey with God. Sold into slavery to God's Favor in Potiphar's House
God guarded Joseph's future
Joseph also guarded his future by:
1. Committed Relationship To Jesus
Gen 39:3 His master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord caused all that he did to succeed in his hands.
2. Resisting Sin
Genesis 4:7 (NASB95)?7 ''If you do well, will not your countenance be lifted up? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it.''?
Hebrews 12:1 (NASB95)?1 Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
So Joseph ''resisted'' the advances of Potiphar's wife to get him to sleep with her...
Genesis 39:20 (ESV)?20 And Joseph's master took him and put him into the prison, the place where the king's prisoners were confined, and he was there in prison.
Back in the pit...(pit of despair clip here?)
I believe another key of Joseph's life in fulfilling ''future'' and walking out something that thousands of years later we are still teaching about was his ability to overcome discouragement...disappointment
We see that he had a relational commitment to God...
We see that he resisted sin when he was tempted...
Guarding Your Future has another important key...
3. Overcome Disappointment
Joseph's life was full of disappointment...
Rejected by his family (brothers)
He overcomes temptation and his reward is prison..
Proverbs 13:12 (ESV) ...
